Tea Party Coalition?

Lately there has been some talk about the various Tea Party groups unifying under one “umbrella”. Do you think this would be a good or bad idea? Please use the poll below to answer and also feel free to expand on your reasoning in the comment section.

  1. Patrick H says:

The fact that the tea parties aren’t united is why the movement is still alive. Because tea parties spring up randomly all over the nation with no central leadership makes it impossible for the left to do their attacks on the movement. No leadership = no commander to belittle and yell down. I think the tea party conservatives need to work within the existing system to bring about the changes needed to save our great Republic. Be an agent of change and reform in the Republican party because we need it. Unification under a central umbrella will lead conservatives away from the already fragile republican party that needs this type of conservative leadership.

  2. Nathan says:

The question is not that simple. Coordination is one thing – unification is another. Coordination can be a good thing. Centralized control would be radically detrimental to the movement as it would very likely drive away the masses who are engaged through the tea party movement specifically BECAUSE they believe that the core parties have stopped listening to the masses.

  3. Lee Krawczyk says:

Unification is unnecessary. A defined mission that all can work under is paramount. That mission is simply to promote less government, less taxes, fiscal responsibility within government, and strong defense. This should apply to local, state, and federal government.

The problem with unification is that it pushes the concept of a third party. Third parties never win and always act to the detriment of the main party whose ideals it most closely resembles.

  4. jack says:

I think they should unite but that being said not under a political party. I think there goal should be to elimate the threat in both parties. I seen where leaders met with reb leaders. I think that’s great but when they are in power in congress will they still talk with them? Why is there no reach to the dems? honestly I think we need more Dems, but I only say that because republicans are more likly to go with one of our candidates on there own. If we can get Dems that will vote in primary elections we can rid the country of all the bad self agenda politics that had hurt our country on both sides. Listen the work that’s been done with the republicans is great but it’s only half the story. We need to unite to do this. Now that doesn’t mean we have to have a central leader, but americans working with americans to get the kind of leaders our country needs. We can’t look at this as D or R but A. How many think the R served us when they have had power? We know about the D now. We have to embrace each other as Americans to fix the R and D. Yes the R’s are embracing us but only because they understand they need us. When they feel they don’t what happens? The fix is electing in the primarys those that have our core values on both sides. Then it’s always a win for america no matter if it’s a R or D holding office. To do this we do need to unite but as Americans, not as a new party, not with a leadership that has failed both our parties. But with knowledge, and common values as we have done so far.

  5. Mark says:

Uniting leads to powergrabbing and corruption in my opionion. We already have many Arizona and national Tea Party “leaders” that have used our movement as a platform to launch their own political campaigns. How can we the People influence their decisions if the movement is being run by them behind the curtain?

  6. DanFromMo says:

No, but that is not to say we cannot share a common calendar, alert and polling system!!

  7. Mark says:

Dan I agree…maybe not all under one umbrella so to speak, but one stop shop for the details would be nice.

  8. Tony says:

It’s a bad idea to ‘unite’ under one umbrella. That makes it a bigger target for infiltration and corruption. We don’t need to be hijacked by a pseudo leader that will probably be whispered to by the same people that own President Obama, Senator McCain and the rest of the New World Order crowd. Now McCain wants to take away my vitamins?! They’re governing against the people once again.
