Arizona is going to have an exciting political year. We have four Republicans running for the US Senate seat. Each candidate is different and represents different parts of the Republican Party. Chris Simcox, Jim Deakin, JD Hayworth and John McCain are all campaigning for the spot that Sen. John McCain currently holds.

We are in the process of establishing interviews with each candidate on the issues and will run the results of those interviews on this site; but we would like to know where you stand before we publish their answers to our interview questions. We will have a follow-up poll established after we run their interview responses to see if their answers have swayed your decisions about them. The below poll will run for 30 days from the date of this posting and you may only vote once.
***UPDATE***: As of 2/15/10, Chris Simcox withdrew from running and is now supporting JD Hayworth.
Disclaimer: We are not advocating that you vote for ANY particular candidate, we are simply posting results of the poll.

Listen, you guys: I’ve seen this happen before, and don’t want it to happen again. Do *NOT* let the essentially libertarian Tea Party Movement get taken over by the Conservatives, the Religious Right, or the Republican Party. Letting yourselves get co-opted by any of these fossils will be the kiss of death. Think about what happened to various left-wing reformist groups who got co-opted by either the Marxists or the Democrats. Stick to your guns — and your difference!

Of the candidates only McCain has the money & backing to win. Admittedly, he blows with the wind, but he will vote with the voice of the people in his ear…we’ll just have to keep yelling in it.
Either the Republican party returns to its roots – and practices what it preaches – or it, and the nation, become irrelevant. Conservatives are the true (small ‘l’) ‘libertarians’ the so-called ‘neo-cons’ are the left wing of the party.
Those ‘right wing radicals’ who espouse small government, low taxes and individual accountability and intitiative are also the true ‘mainstream’: These are basic, central American values.
I blame McCain, in part, for where we are today. Had he been so outspoken about Obama during the campaign, maybe some people would have awakened BEFORE they walked like sheep to the slaughterhouse, uh, voting booth. He didn’t have the spine to stand up to the machine then and now he wants us to keep pulling the lever for him. I don’t think so.
Hayworth is just another Washington insider.
We need somebody that IS The People, not somebody that will get up there and ignore their constituency. We’re already living in that nightmare.
It’s a tough choice, but the only way we can do what’s best for our Country is by making tough choices. It’s time to send a very clear message that we are awake and we will no longer be led around by the nose by those that actually work FOR us.
I’d love to have a written agreement from each of these guys with their promises to We the People (campaign promises and the Oath they take are no longer enough). The consequences should be that they will not run again, should they not adhere to the agreement and deliver on their promises. These “representatives” need to be held accountable.
I’m not familiar with Simcox or Deakin – I know will NEVER vote for Hayworth (He is the most crooked man I have ever met!) and McCain – well he has plenty of money but I am really tired of having NO representation while he’s off “running” for other offices – its unconstitutional to hold another office while in congress and I feel it should be unconstitutional to “run” for another office while in congress! So come on people let’s get a “real” choice for a senator next year!!!
With all due respect to Senator John McCain, it’s time for the good people of Arizona to retire him. Quite simply, McCain has been in Washington for too long and — to me — represents exactly what is wrong with our national politics, and everything that’s wrong with the Republican party. He doesn’t seem to really stand for anything anymore. He’s too willing to compromise conservative principles for popularity or for political expedience. J.D. has been a part of this Tea Party protest from the very beginning, so I know he hears what the citizens are saying.
Really looking forward to the interviews. Not really familiar with Chris or Jim but definitely interested in finding the right guy for the job. I don’t believe John has been the right guy for a while.
Leslie – the reason the Left got in trouble going Marx-Obamist is that the country is Conservative! When the Conservatives ran the Republican party, the party was strong! Unfortunately, they shifted centre with the 2001 Congress and a President who (while strong on taxes and the war on terrorists) never saw a spending bill he didn’t like and couldn’t secure the border. The answer is MORE Conservatism, not Less. As a Conservative Independent, I have to go with JD, because we don’t need even the chance of a Shamnesty bill – McCain’s biggest downfall.
I say we start voting out incumbents over the next 10 years. This will show them that we are not blinded by the glitz of the party but are looking at the issues for a change.
This will send a strong message that we are watching and they need to listen to us.
I agree with D Wasserman… McCain WILL vote with the voice of the people in his ear. He’s been sticking up for fiscal responsibility more than anyone
Anyone who says they’d go with JD, well you have to be nuts! he blatantly blasted mccain on his radio show, is connected to convicted lobbyists, and his campaign committee would gladly spend over 2 grand on steak dinners.
Hayworth has never done anything to fight the big-spending in congress or the government intrusion in the private economy, and who doesn’t support the local economy? We need McCain. he’s trustworthy and upfront about fiscal responsibility.
If it walks like a crooke and quacks like a crook…well it must be one! Hayworth was closely associated with disgraced Tom Delay. And let us not forget that JD was the largest recipient of money from Abramoff, Delay’s former staff member, that is until Abramoff ended up serving time in federal prison. People who associate with crooks don’t get my vote!
Ladies and gentlemen and fellow patriots greetings!
Consider carefully that politics is the ‘Art of the Possible’ and our immediate goal is the removal of John McSame from the U.S. Senate.
While JD Hayworth may have committed sins in the past, I ask you to consider this: He was a player for the RNC/GOP McCain machine while in office and as such ran the plays as a good team player.
However… when he went off the reservation on Amnesty and Immigration his coach through him under the bus.
He’s had time to reflect and consider his sins of the past – and, perhaps more than any other candidate in this field, is in a very good position to return to Washington and play on our team this time.
Perhaps we should consider 2 things: Redemption and who can defeat McSame.
In an interview with Chris Matthews, JD Hayworth stated that he was a “Birther”- I don’t believe he will get much of the Independent vote with this position. We certainly do not want to put this Senate seat in play for the Dems – John McCain is as sure a win as you can get. The goal should be to stop Obama’s agenda and opening up this seat for a Democrat victory would be a disaster for our country and the Tea Party – I just don’t think JD can win.
For those unfamiliar with Jim Deakin, it is suggested that his views on the issues be given a hard “look see” as he truly is the Tea Party/Constitutional candidate. Jim has all of the conflicting legislative actions of McCain/Hayworth on his sites http://www.jimdeakin.com and http://www.deakinvsmccain. Also, he has recently been endorsed by Joe Kennedy, the gentleman who ran against Scott Brown in the recent Senate race in Massachusetts. Go to youtube and look under Jim Deakin. It is titled: “I was WRONG WRONG WRONG … Arizona you can do even better (endorsement of Jim Deakin).” Jim’s interview with MSNBC is there as well along with other informative youtubes. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jim+deakin&search_type=&aq=f
Send Jim an email. He’ll speak to any sized groups, and he walks your neighborhoods as well. Invite him…he’ll be there– jimdeakinforsenate@gmail.com
I have to agree with T Miranda. No one should vote for Hayworth. He’s a crook and not the true conservative that he paints himself to be. He’s your typical big spender politician. He will not get my vote!
